22 Apr 2024 Conway Symphony Orchestra completes 39th season with Brahms and Bernstein
The Conway Symphony Orchestra concludes their 2023-24 season with “It Takes 2!” presented by First Community Bank at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, April 27, in the Windgate Center Concert Hall.
“At First Community Bank, we’re honored to sponsor a night with the Conway Symphony,” said Grant Gordy, community president for the Conway area with First Community Bank. “Supporting the arts in Conway is a priority for us, as we recognize the vital role they play in our community’s vibrancy. We’re thrilled for this opportunity and look forward to a memorable performance.”
Maestro Israel Getzov will conduct the concert, which will feature Linda Hsu on violin and Stephen Feldman on cello in Brahms Double Concerto for Violin and Cello. Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story Symphonic Dances will comprise the second half of the concert.
“It is a tremendous opportunity to perform this masterpiece,” cellist Stephen Feldman said when speaking of Brahms Double Concerto. In it, Brahms is reimagining the relationship between soloist and orchestra and creates a unique dance between the two soloists and the orchestra.”
Maestro Israel “Izzy” Getzov remarked on the artistic relationship between the two soloists, well-known to CSO fans, “Linda and Steve have performed with each other for over 20 years—their musical telepathy will be on full display.”
The West Side Story Symphonic Dances, taken from the Broadway musical score and arranged as a suite for orchestral performance, make up the second half of the concert. “The rhythms and melodies of West Side Story are an indelible part of the American musical soundscape,” Getzov said.
