Conway Men's Chorus plans spring concert

Voices are limbering, programs are in design and final tweaks formulated as 50-plus men prepare for a night of music, a gift to the community, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30.

The annual spring concert, No. 16 in fact by the Conway Men’s Chorus, will take place in Reynolds Performance Hall at the University of Central Arkansas.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Sam Huskey, director of choral music with the Conway Public Schools, directs the chorus. He has been taking the men’s voices through the paces with some exciting musical pieces in preparation. Paul Bradley provides piano accompaniment and assistant directors are Dustin Summey and Dr. Greg Murry.

From the contemporary “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” from Monty Python’s “Spamalot” to the hauntingly melodic “O Lux Beatissima,” the evening promises to be a royal treat for the ears. Other numbers include “Homeland,” “Loch Lomond,” “We Rise Again,” “Sing Me to Heaven,” “Walking in Memphis,” “Deep River” and others.

Prior to the main concert, a number of songs will be presented by the Conway High School Chamber Choir.
