Conway EcoFest scheduled Oct. 10

The seventh annual Conway EcoFest is planned 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Laurel Park.

The event will feature all the returning favorites such as the raptor rehab, cars, recycling and the maze, magic by Blayk Puckett and interactive exhibits that allow visitors of all ages to explore the inter-connectedness of the environment as well as its connections to daily lives.

For more information, visit conwayecofest.com or call 501.472.0901.

New this year are several greatly expanded sections. The health section will focus on environmental connections. The Museum of Discovery’s giant mobile unit will be on hand with 10 engaging exhibits. Agriculture, eco homes and marketplace sections are planned, and there will be an improved science area that incorporates fun STEM education exhibits along with a new Innovation Alley (IA).

The science area is open to teachers, students, individuals and businesses who want to share projects or even theories that are, or may one day be, incorporated into solutions that aid in sustainability…even Raspberry Pi or EAST projects. Those interested should submit an online application at conwayecofest.com/application-center, or contact Allison Nicholas at 501.269.4119 or [email protected].

Artist Alice Guffey Miller will continue her work with visitors on the traveling sculpture, Pillar of the Community. See Facebook, AGM Sculpt Conway tour, or Conway ArtsFest for more details.

Prescription drugs and eyeglasses will be collected, as well as pet food to help out with the pet foster programs. The pet adoption trailer will be onsite.

For the safety of pets, visitors and the exhibit animals, organizers ask that people not bring family pets to this event.

The park is located at 2283 Prince St. and 2310 Robinson Ave. in Conway.
