Conway Community Arts presents Tuesdays with Morrie

Veteran actors Len Schlientz will portray Morrie and Tom McLeod will perform the role of Mitch. Both actors are from Conway and have appeared in numerous productions for Conway Community Arts.

The play is from the non-fiction novel of the same name and chronicles the last days of Morrie, a college professor and his former student, Mitch. When Mitch finds out that his mentor has been diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s Disease), he begins visiting his ailing teacher, picking up where they left off as professor/student years earlier. The story was made into a 1999 TV movie and featured Jack Lemmon and Hank Azaria.

The production is under the direction of Carla Grant with stage management by Ashley Carnahan. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students in advance, and are $12 and $7 at the door, if available. Reservations can be made by calling 501.733.6220.

The play is funded, in part, by the Arkansas Arts Council and all proceeds from the production will benefit the ALS Association. The ALS Association of Arkansas will have information available during the performance and will be accepting tax-deductible donations to the organization.

Conway Community Arts Association is a member of the American Association of Community Theaters and has been a cultural presence in Conway for over 35 years. Information regarding the organization can be obtained online at www.conwayarts.org
