A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Veterans Plaza at Pompe Park on June 23, and was well attended by veterans, their families and community members. 

Mayor Bart Castleberry spoke to a large crowd who attended the opening of the memorial.

The new Veterans Plaza is intended to be a space that honors the sacrifices made by veterans and their families in the past, present and future.

Veterans and their families attended the opening of Veterans Plaza at Pompe Park.

Surrounded by seating and walking paths, the plaza showcases a monument featuring flags that recognize each military branch and POW/MIA.
