06 Oct 2014 Conway BPW accepting applications for Jane Lagasse Scholarship

The Conway Business & Professional Women’s (BPW) organization is accepting applications for the Jane Lagasse Scholarship.  

The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a non-traditional female student attending college/university/technical school in Central Arkansas. Preference will be given to students 25 or older whose education was interrupted by a life-altering event and who are returning to or starting college for the first time in preparation for better career opportunities.  

The application will require a current college transcript and proof of registration for the Fall 2014 term, two references and an essay outlining specified goals and community involvement.  Applications should be mailed by Tuesday, Oct. 14, to Conway BPW, P.O. Box 194, 813 Oak St. 10A, Conway 72032 or delivered to Nabholz Properties, 700 Front St. in Conway.  

The scholarship will be awarded at the Conway BPW 75th Celebration Reception on Tuesday, Oct. 21, during National Business Women’s Week.  

Scholarship information is available in the financial aid department at Central Baptist College, Hendrix College, the University of Central Arkansas, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, Arkansas Tech University and Arkansas State University at Beebe.

Conway BPW is a member of the Arkansas Business & Professional Women (AR/BPW), whose goal is to promote participation in legislation, equality and economic self-sufficiency for America’s working women. The group’s objectives include elevating the standards of women in business and extending opportunities to business and professional women through education.
