09 Dec 2012 Clinton Presidential Library hosts 'IN PIECES'
The Clinton Presidential Library will host "IN PIECES" by Nathan Sawaya and Dean West beginning Wednesday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Feb. 1.
Due to the overwhelming success of the 2011 temporary exhibit, "The Art of the Brick," the Center is welcoming back artist Sawaya and his newest exhibition with award-winning photographer, Dean West.
"In Pieces" partners seven large-scale, highly stylized photographic images with uniquely constructed three-dimensional LEGO brick sculptures.
This collection draws the viewer into the tableau while literally surrounding them with the physicality of the art.
As the viewer gets closer to West’s photographs, the brick-by-brick fabricated construction becomes more apparent.
Brick artist Sawaya isolates one element featured in the photograph and creates a detailed sculpture of that single point of inspiration.
The result is a unique look at the balance of nature and technology.
