Christmas in July: Honoring heroes with Wreaths Across America

GREENBRIER — Each December, thousands of volunteers across the nation come together for Wreaths Across America, a powerful event dedicated to honoring and remembering the brave men and women who served our country. For First Service Bank, the tradition holds a special place in their hearts — and each year, they join the effort to ensure that no fallen hero is ever forgotten.

Through Wreaths Across America, First Service Bank strives to ensure that a wreath is placed on the grave of every fallen hero — a small but meaningful gesture that symbolizes remembrance, gratitude and respect for their sacrifice. The wreaths serve as a visual reminder that the legacies of these men and women continue to live on.

“The team at First Service Bank, in partnership with Operation Red, White & Brave (ORWB), has made it our mission to help fulfill this purpose year after year,” said Ireland Green, marketing assistant at First Service. “In previous years, our goal has been to sponsor 1,000 wreaths across veterans’ graves in Arkansas-area cemeteries. But this year, we’re raising the bar — our goal is to sponsor 2,000 wreaths, which are $17 each.” Donations are tax-deductible. The bank will match the amount raised dollar for dollar to donate to the ORWB Foundation, and is asking the public to help make it happen.

Money donated in Arkansas stays in the state to honor Arkansas’s fallen heroes and support families of the fallen. “By sponsoring a wreath through First Service Bank and the ORWB Foundation, you are helping us carry out a mission of remembrance and recognition,” Green said. “It’s a meaningful way to show appreciation for those who fought for the freedoms we enjoy every day. Together, we can make sure their service is honored, their names are spoken, and their sacrifice is never forgotten.”
