Christmas blankets donated to Conway Regional

Tom Webb of Vilonia recently donated 15 angel blankets to patients on the Conway Regional Oncology floor.

This is the fifth year that Webb has ordered and donated the blankets in memory of his wife, Karen. “When she was in the hospital going through treatment, a stranger donated a blanket to her, and now I do the same thing for others,” he said.

Each patient gets a personalized letter from Webb wishing them a Merry Christmas and explaining why they are receiving the blanket.

It reads, “I know a little bit about cancer and the struggle that you and your family have endured. My wife, Karen, was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and passed away in 2009. Someone brought her a blanket like the one I’m giving you. Every time that she would look at the blanket, it would provide her with encouragement, knowing that someone that she didn’t know cared enough to give her a present.

“In her memory, I give blankets like this to other people who are undergoing treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses. My hope is that you will get encouragement whenever you use this blanket, knowing that someone who doesn’t know you, cares about you. May God bless you and your family.”
