LITTLE ROCK — The 28th Annual Arkansas Children’s Award Dinner benefiting the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches (ASYR) raised more than $257,000, surpassing its goal of $250,000, to provide safe, healthy and loving homes for Arkansas children.

The Arkansas Children’s Award honored Marge Schueck, widow of Lexicon founder Tom Schueck, for her notable dedication to Arkansas children.

This year’s Arkansas Children’s Award honored Marge Schueck, widow of Lexicon founder Tom Schueck, for her notable dedication to Arkansas children. Schueck’s life-long commitment to service includes volunteering for Our House’s Child Development Center, her fundraising efforts for the Museum of Discovery’s Room to Grow and scholarships for single parents – all highlighting her unparalleled commitment to building welcoming communities for Arkansas children.

Ray Dillon, ASYR Board of Trustees chair and 2023 event chair, shared, “During her remarks, Marge reflected ‘That’s the way we can make this crazy world better. Share the good things.’ And that is exactly what Marge has done this year … she’s helped us raise much-needed funds and awareness for the Ranch’s mission. As an organization that is 100 percent privately funded, that work is critical to helping us fund our work for another year.”

The event, held October 12 in the Grand Ballroom at the Little Rock Marriott Hotel, had more than 490 people in attendance. The evening included a reception, dinner, silent and live auction and an award presentation. The master of ceremonies was former Governor Mike Beebe, who has emceed the event for the past 28 years and is a longtime supporter of ASYR.

“In celebrating Marge as she receives the Arkansas Children’s Award, I reflect on the work of the Ranch, our journey and the children we’ve welcomed from all walks of life,” said Nancy Fulton, chief executive officer of Arkansas Sheriff’s Youth Ranch. “Every child here has a story, often marred by trauma and challenges, and tonight is a testament to the resilience of these young souls and the unwavering belief that with love, support, and community, we can make a difference in their lives. They deserve it.”
