26 Jul 2011 CCAA presents ‘Same Time Next Year’
Performances are scheduled 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 29; Saturday, July 30; Thursday, Aug. 4; Friday, Aug. 5; and Saturday, Aug. 6. Sunday show times are 2:30 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 7.
Performances will be held at the new Lantern Theatre, 1021 Van Ronkle in Downtown Conway.
Same Time Next Year is one of the most popular romantic comedies of the 20th century and follows Doris and George as they agree to meet every year for the next 24 years. The CCAA version features Brady Ness and Erica Summers in the title roles and is directed by Carla Grant. The scenery is designed by Bruce Evans with stage management by Emma Key.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made by calling 501.733.6220. Tickets at the door, if available, will be $12 for adults and $7 for students. The play is recommended for ages 16 and up.
The performance is sponsored, in part,by the Arkansas Arts Council and the Conway Advertising and Promotion Commission.
The space at 1021 Van Ronkle was recently acquired by Conway Community Arts, transformed into a ‘black box’ performance space and named The Lantern Theatre. It has become the permanent home for the organization with plans to add additional plays and musicals, improv shows and late night performances. The space also includes an outside garden which will contain an area for entertaining and receptions.
Conway Community Arts is a member of the American Association of Community Theaters and has maintained a consistent cultural presence in Conway for almost 40 years.
