GAME ONE – CBC 8, WBU 0 (FIVE INNINGS)

CBC jumped up quickly in the first when Lauren Anderson, who is hitting .510 in April, brought home the first run of the game with a sac fly to make it 1-0 after one. Anderson’s second RBI of the game came on a bunt in the third to make it 2-0 and Kori Truelove followed Anderson with a three-run homerun, her fourth of the season, to make it 5-0 after three. Madeline Bruce singled in the fourth to make it 6-0 and CBC completed the run-rule win in the fifth with Kinley Johnson’s 13th home run of the season and a bunt off the bat of Savannah Sanford that saw Dakota Hobson score all the way from first to end the game. Hannah Work earned win number nine by throwing a complete game three-hit shutout.

GAME TWO – CBC 5, WBU 3

Truelove put CBC up 1-0 in the first inning of game two with a double which was followed two batters later by a run scoring single by Abi West to make it 2-0 after one. WBU chopped the lead in half in the second before Johnson gave the Mustangs some breathing room with an RBI single in the third to make it 3-1. The Eagles didn’t go away quietly, however, tying the game in the fourth. In the sixth, Anderson came through again, blasting a two-run home run to center field, her 10th of the season, to give Alex Jeter a 5-3 lead to work with. Jeter earned the win, allowing just seven hits and three runs with a walk and four Ks.
