22 Aug 2012 CBC Lady Mustangs beat NCAA D-1 national contender
The Central Baptist College Lady Mustangs recently opened their 2012 soccer season with a win over the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions, competitors at the NCAA division 1 national tournament for the past three years.
The Lady Mustangs won 3-0.
Senior Ashley English was the first to light up the scoreboard for CBC, scoring the first goal in the 40th minute of the game. It gave the Lady Mustangs a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
CBC Senior Brittany Kemper answered the calling for a second goal in the 72nd minute. As the game came to the last few minutes, English scored the team’s third goal of the game in the 89th minute and closed the match as the lead scorer for Central Baptist College.
"After a long five-day preseason, it was great to see if we could piece it all together for a match," Coach Justin Hawkins said. "It was exciting to see great team chemistry this early in the season and hopefully we can build on that."
