WALNUT RIDGE — Playing on the road for the second straight game and making up a game originally scheduled for Jan. 9, #17 Central Baptist College men’s basketball was at the Southerland Mabee Center Monday for an American Midwest Conference clash with rival Williams Baptist. #17 CBC (15-3, 9-0 AMC) never trailed, leading by as many as 18 points before winning 92-79 over WBU (4-11, 1-8 AMC).

Five players finished in double figures, scoring, led by Brian Alexander off the bench. The Mustangs were plus-four on the glass and forced 15 turnovers, which they converted into 21 points, while the bench for CBC outscored WBU’s bench 32-10.

The Mustangs continued to flourish, racing out to a 31-13 lead with 8:58 left in the first half before taking a 44-37 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Mustangs scored the first two buckets on back-to-back layups by Gabe Johnson before WBU went on a 6-0 run to make it 48-46 with 16:28 to play. A three by Alexander 57 seconds later stretched the lead to five, and, following a WBU free throw, a jumper by Alexander pushed the lead to six with 14:53 to go. CBC led 54-51 with 13:16 left and a layup by Devin Foster stretched the lead back to five.
