CARTI welcomes Dr. Eric Burdge

LITTLE ROCK – CARTI has welcomed Eric Burdge, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.S., to its fellowship-trained breast surgical oncology team. Dr. Burdge will see patients at CARTI’s flagship campus in Little Rock and at the CARTI Cancer Centers in Conway, El Dorado and Russellville.

“With more than two decades of experience, Dr. Burdge is a seasoned leader in any operating room,” said Yara Robertson, M.D., F.A.C.S., medical director of surgical oncology. “We are honored to have him join us at CARTI, where we know patients will benefit from his exceptional skills and kind, steady demeanor.” 

Dr. Burdge served in the U.S. Air Force’s Air National Guard for more than 20 years, including eight years as Arkansas State Air Surgeon and two years as Chief of Aerospace Medicine and Senior Flight Surgeon for the 189th Airlift Wing of the Arkansas Air National Guard. During his military service, he was also the chief of surgery at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and held attending surgeon roles at Keesler Air Force Base, Joint Base Balad in Iraq and Yokota Air Base in Japan.

Dr. Burdge graduated from Cornell University Medical College with honors in research. He completed his residency in general surgery at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and fellowship in breast surgical oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He also attended the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he was awarded Aeronautical Wings and Flight Surgeon status. He holds many military honors and decorations, including the Meritorious Service Medal and Air Force Achievement Medal.
