CareLink offers free class for age 60 plus

Registration is open for a free Chronic Disease Self-Management Class from CareLink for those aged 60 plus on how to deal with the fatigue, pain, frustration and isolation brought on by long-term diseases.

To register, call Todd Price at 501.372.5300 or email [email protected]. The Monday morning classes begin Monday, March 30.

“The six-week program is offered at no cost, but limited to 16 participants,” said Price, health and wellness coordinator for CareLink. “We will be teaching exercises to maintain and improve strength, flexibility and endurance; appropriate use of medications; how to communicate effectively with family, friends and health professionals; nutrition; decision making; and how to evaluate new treatments.”

The class will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays from March 30 through May 4 at the CareLink office at 706 West 4th St. in North Little Rock.

Last year more than 18,000 people in Faulkner, Lonoke, Monroe, Prairie, Pulaski and Saline counties were CareLinked with information and resources to help them stay active and in their own homes, avoiding more costly care. Older people and their caregivers can get the information and assistance they need from CareLink at 501.372.5300, toll-free 800.482.6359 or by visiting carelink.org.
