08 Jul 2015 Cabot students compete in Arkansas Youth Shooting contest
Cabot students were among those who recently competed in this year’s Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program state tournament.
Trap teams from White Hall and Booneville took top honors in this year’s tournament. White Hall won the junior division and Booneville took top honors in the senior division. The tournament was held June 5-6 at Jacksonville.
Champion of Champions in the junior division was Hunter Throckmorton of Bald Knob. Dustin McGowen of Greenwood was the Champion of Champions in the senior division.
In the junior division, the Corning Trap Team took second place and the Bald Knob Bulldog Claybusters took home the third place trophy. In the senior division, Quitman placed second and Corning placed third.
Each member of the top three senior division teams was awarded a college scholarship ($1,500 for first, $1,000 for second and $500 for third).
Teams from across the state competed in four regional competitions to qualify for the championship. Each region was represented by 16 teams in the junior and senior divisions.
In addition to team competition, shooters with perfect scores during regional tournaments were invited to compete individually in the Champion of Champions event at the state finals.
