30 Aug 2013 'Buy a Ride, Make it Happen'
A local fundraising project involving Conway automobile dealerships is in the works to help purchase the new Conway Senior Wellness and Activity Center, formerly the Agora Special Event Center on Siebenmorgen Road.
The Faulkner County Council on Aging Inc., the governing body of the Faulkner County Senior Citizens Center, announced the project, which is named “Buy a Ride, Make it Happen,” coming from the organization’s capital campaign slogan “Make it Happen.”
Participating Conway dealerships include Smith Ford, Crain Buick GMC, Caldwell Toyota and Honda World.
The promotion is simple — each dealership donates $50 per sale during the month of September to the Make it Happen Capital Campaign. The totals will be presented during a radio telethon on Tuesday, Oct. 1, on Y107 FM.
The new senior facility will have double the space and allow for an extensive development of education and activities to be offered to local seniors. The current facility at 1620 N. Donaghey was opened in 1980 and is inadequate in light of the growth of Conway.
“We are so thrilled to have the support of these auto dealerships,” said Debra Robinson, director of the senior center. “It is great to be in a town where everyone comes together for such a needed cause.”
The senior center should re-locate to the new facility in the spring, with plans to sell the existing structure.
