09 May 2016 Blue & You Foundation awards grant to Conway Regional

The Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas has awarded a $1,000 mini-grant to Conway Regional Health Foundation for stroke and trauma prevention and education.

Conway Regional’s Stroke and Trauma Community Education Team will use the funds to purchase a video camera and other equipment for education of employees and the community.

Stroke is the No. 3 cause of death in Arkansas and the stroke death rate in Arkansas is the highest in the United States. In addition, injury is the No. 1 cause of death and disability in Arkansas – with a rate 31 percent higher than the national average and 82 percent higher with respect to deaths from motor vehicle accidents.  

The stroke and trauma team works to educate the community regarding warning signs of stroke, calling 911, seat belt checks, bicycle safety, first aid, injury prevention, home safety, teen driving safety and other community issues.   

The Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas is a charitable foundation established and funded by Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield to promote better health in Arkansas.

The Foundation awards approximately $2 million in grants annually to non-profit or governmental organizations and programs that positively affect the health of Arkansans.
