Bisons shine at Hendrix Invitational

CONWAY — Harding’s men’s track and field team opened its outdoor season with several strong performances at the Hendrix Invitational on March 1.

Everett Mumme cleared 5.10 meters (16 feet, 8.75 inches) in the pole vault to earn an NCAA Provisional mark. Mumme’s vault was the best in the event.

Daniel Osoba achieved an NCAA Provisional mark in the triple jump, leaping 14.01 meters (45 feet, 11.75 inches). Osoba also finished third in the long jump with a mark of 6.23 meters (20 feet, 5.25 inches).

Spencer Helms earned an NCAA Provisional mark in the discus, throwing 51.94 meters (170 feet, 5 inches). Helms also won the hammer throw with a mark of 48.93 meters (160 feet, 6 inches).

Kelmen de Carvalho had a standout day, winning both the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.07 seconds and the shot put with a mark of 15.16 meters (49 feet, 9 inches).

Casen Hammitt rounded out the Bisons’ NCAA Provisional marks with a throw of 62.97 meters (206 feet, 7 inches) in the javelin.

Hayes Cox took the top spot in the long jump with a mark of 6.78 meters (22 feet, 3 inches).

The Bisons’ 4×400 relay team finished second with a time of 3:32.11.

Harding is completing the second day of the Bison Invitational in Searcy today, March 7.
