Some young people are choosing a unique way to give back to the and celebrate their birthday.
Emalee Ann Cook recently celebrated her eighth birthday by asking guests to bring contributions for homeless animals at the Saline County animal shelter instead of gifts for her. She collected more than $500 in donations for the fur babies.
