05 May 2014 Backyard Gourment to be held on Saturday, May 17
The Faulkner County Library and La Lucha Space will host the third annual Backyard Gourmet event at the library from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
This year, Backyard Gourmet celebrates Arkansas Heritage Month with a Beans, Greens and Cornbread supper and dessert potluck. The library won a grant from the Department of Arkansas Heritage to celebrate Heritage Month in May. The theme for Heritage Month is “Come to the Table: Celebrating the Flavors of Arkansas” and the event features produce from the Urban Farm Project’s garden at the rear of the library, and from local farmers through Conway Locally Grown.
Enjoy live music from Jeff and Joe, High Lonesome, and Contra Dancing from the Arkansas County Dance Society.
There will be seed saving demonstrations, a mini seed swap and children’s activities. Photographs from the Come to the Table Photography Contest will be on display, and prizes will be awarded.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the library at 501.327.7482 or email [email protected].
This program is made possible in part by a grant from the Department of Arkansas Heritage, funded by a 1/8 cent conservation tax (Amendment 75).
