ASU-Beebe Heber Springs announces community ed classes

HEBER SPRINGS — Arkansas State University-Beebe has announced its lineup of fall 2025 Community Education classes at the Heber Springs campus, offering a variety of engaging, hands-on learning opportunities for the community.

The noncredit courses are open to the public and designed to help participants update their skills, explore new hobbies and gain knowledge in a fun, interactive setting.

“We are excited to offer such a diverse lineup of classes this fall,” said Heather Stogner, director of workforce and community development. “From creative workshops and skill-based courses to programs that support lifelong health and well-being, our goal is to provide something for everyone in the community.”

On Wednesday, Oct. 15, a session on succession planning will give participants the opportunity to explore the differences between trusts and wills, understand the advantages of each and learn how to plan effectively for the future. This Lunch & Learn class is also presented by the Cleburne County Extension Office and will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Entergy Room. Participants should bring their own lunch. A “Pumpkin Wreath Making” workshop, presented by Laura Grisham, owner of Laura Grisham Designs and a retired art teacher, will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Academic Center, room 202. Grisham will guide participants in creating seasonal decorations. The cost is $55 before Oct. 7 and $60 after Oct. 7. Registration is available at asubcommunity.ticketleap.com/pumpkin.

“Photography with Phones” will be offered Wednesday, Oct. 29, and will teach participants how to make the most of their cell phone for photography. This Lunch & Learn session is presented by the Cleburne County Extension Office and will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Entergy Room. Participants should bring their own lunch. On Friday, Nov. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the AARP Safe Driving Course will be led by Dennis Devine and Clay McCastlain. The course teaches proven driving techniques to help keep drivers and their loved ones safe on the road and may qualify participants for a multi-year discount on auto insurance. A “Charcuterie Board and Food Safety” class will be offered Wednesday, Nov. 19, as part of the Cleburne County Extension Office’s Lunch & Learn series. The class will run from noon to 1 p.m. in the Entergy Room and will cover how to create a charcuterie board and follow food safety practices. Participants should bring their own lunch. The holiday season continues with a “RAG” Christmas Tree workshop Thursday, Nov. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Academic Center, room 202. Participants will create a festive “RAG” Christmas tree decoration. The cost is $45 before Nov. 5 and $50 after Nov. 5. Registration is available at asubcommunity.ticketleap.com/tree.

The final class of the semester will be Wednesday, Dec. 3, with “Anxiety and Depression in Older Adults.” This Lunch & Learn session, presented by the Cleburne County Extension Office, will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Entergy Room. The program will focus on recognizing the symptoms of anxiety and depression, understanding the differences and learning how to support yourself or others in navigating these challenges. Participants should bring their own lunch. Registration is available at asubcommunity.ticketleap.com/anxiety.
