21 Apr 2016 ART Ragin’ Cajun
St. Joseph School’s biannual ART Ragin’ Cajun fundraiser was held in the high school cafeteria.
The event began in 2002 to raise money for art supplies and equipment.
The Cajun theme comes from elementary/middle school art teacher Shannon Chamoun, who hails from Louisiana.
Besides serving up samples of crawfish etouffee, gumbo, red beans and rice, jambalaya and seafood fettuccine, patrons bid on a variety of artistic creations. Many were made by students and included colorful quilts, upcycled furniture, decorative letters and mirrors, Christmas wreaths, clay serving trays, photo transfers and clocks.
Beyond paying for the classroom needs, the funds raised have also supported scholarships, summer camps, drama productions and field trips.
