17 Dec 2014 Arkansas State Parks to offer First Day Hikes

Arkansas State Parks will offer First Day Hikes to ring in the New Year on Thursday, Jan. 1. First Day Hikes is a national movement to get people moving and motivated for the New Year.

Pinnacle Mountain will have two guided hikes. Park Interpreter Gillian Rossi will lead a group up the West Summit Trail to the top of the mountain beginning at 9 a.m. This is a strenuous hike. Sturdy shoes, water and appropriate winter clothing will be necessary. This hike is about 1.5 miles in length. A second group will hike around Base Trail, which circles the base of the mountain. This hike is more moderate, but still requires the proper shoes, water and clothing. This hike is about 3 miles in length. Both hikes will meet at the West Summit Trailhead and leave on time.
