Arkansas soccer association to host regional championships

The Arkansas State Soccer Association will host the 2015 Southern Regional Championships from Thursday, June 18, through Thursday, June 25, at the Burns Park Soccer Complex in North Little Rock. Opening ceremonies will be held in the River Market District on June 18.

The prestigious event is the second stage of the  USYSA  National Championship Series, and is comprised of the state champions for each age-group from 11 states. The tournament will attract 208 teams, 4,500 players and 200-plus college coaches. More than 6,000 spectators are expected, with 100 state soccer representatives to attend.

The event is expected to contribute an estimated $20 million in revenue to Central Arkansas.

Tournament director Allen Finney said the tournament is working with about 45 hotels in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Bryant, Conway and Maumelle to provide accommodations for the teams.

Hundreds of volunteers are being recruited to help with the tournament. To volunteer, email [email protected] or visit http://www.signupgenius.com/tabs/23675DA06A2C2EDC17-volunteers.

This tournament will require a great deal of manpower and resources, and any contribution of time or products is greatly appreciated.

If a business would like to get involved and sponsor an area, the association can build a marketing/benefit package representative of the contribution and which fits the company’s needs. To sponsor, email [email protected].
