08 May 2013 Another good year for Toad Suck Run
Organizers of the annual Toad Suck Daze Run reported another good year, with more than 1,350 10K/5K participants.
“Despite the record cold temperatures for the first weekend in May, we had a great year,” said committee member Kevin Wish. “With the outstanding help from our sponsors and participants and volunteers, we will be able to make the largest donation in the history of the Toad Suck Daze Run. We could not be more pleased with this year’s event.”
The 30th annual event was held May 4 at Conway High School.
Timothy Richard of North Little Rock was the top finisher in the 10K with a time of 33:27.22. Tia Stone of Searcy was the top female finisher with a time of 38:41.71. The 10K is an event of the Arkansas RRCA Grand Prix Series.
In the 5K, Toler Freyaldenhoven of Conway finished first at 18:06.23. Lauren Campbell of Conway was the top female finisher at 20:35.62.
For the fourth year in a row, Conway Christian had the greatest participation rate in the Tadpole Trot and won a traveling trophy and $200 for the school’s physical education program. There were 271 Tadpole Trot participants this year.
Proceeds from the race will benefit a variety of local non-profits – Conway Interfaith Clinic, City of Hope Outreach, Boys and Girls Club, HAVEN (Help for Abuse Victims in Emergency Need), Faulkner County Day School, Community Connections, Community Action Program of Central Arkansas (CAPCA) and Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs.
Over the years, the race has raised more than $300,000 for local charities.
The Conway Kiwanis Club is the main organizer of the event, with support from the Conway Running Club. This year’s major sponsors include Conway Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, TLC Pediatrics, Academy Sports, Kohl’s, Conway Corporation, Regions Bank, Smith Ford, The Sporty Runner, Nabholz Construction Services, Sonshine Academy and Arkansas Eye Care Group.
501 LIFE is also a sponsor.
The event is held in memory of Randy Baker.
