Annual Rocket 5K April 22

Catholic High School (CHS) will host the 13th Annual Rocket 5K Run at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 22.

The event, featuring a challenging 5K, a 3K Walk, and Kids’ Rocket Dash for ages 10 and under, is held at the school, located at 6300 Father Tribou St. in Little Rock.

“The theme ‘It’s tough; Get over it’ is earned because the 5K is on a course that runs through the rolling hills of Little Rock,” said Steve Appleton, chair of this year’s race. “We hope to have runners and walkers from throughout the state compete to show what they are made of. But we also want to make sure it is family-friendly by offering a race for every pace.”

The event also includes a 3K walk where participants are encouraged to bring their dogs to walk with CHS’s newest pet, Titus, a German Shephard who lives at the school and who will be celebrating his first birthday at this year’s race.

“The Kids’ Rocket Dash will be on the CHI St. Vincent Track where 1-5 year olds will participate in a 100m dash and 6-10 year olds will run a 300m dash,” said April Findley, chair of the Kids’ Rocket Dash. “There will also be activities for the kids before and after the race such as an obstacle course, a bounce house and more. This is a fun, family event, no matter what your running level, experience or age.”

Register for the race at lrchs.org, at Catholic High School or on race day starting at 6:30 a.m.

Sponsors of this year’s event include Blue Cross Blue Shield, CHI St. Vincent, Airmasters, HardwoodCleaner.com and Simmons Bank.
