Church Women United in Conway will host a series of weekly Lenten Lunches at local churches at noon each Thursday.

The lunch of soup, cornbread and dessert is accompanied by music and a brief reflection on the season of Lent. All are welcome, and a $4 donation is suggested.

The schedule:

Feb. 25, Salem United Methodist Church, 1018 Salem Road.

March 3, First Presbyterian Church, 2400 Prince St.

March 10, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 925 Mitchell St.

March 17, First Christian Church, 1620 Donaghey Ave.

Church Women United is an ecumenical movement involving Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox and other Christian women in the United States and Puerto Rico. Organized into local units, CWU works for peace and social justice from a Christian perspective while supporting dialogue with all faith groups.

The Faulkner County Unit of CWU supports local charitable agencies and organizations, hosts an annual Lenten luncheon series for the community and holds four worship celebrations around international themes each year.
