10 Mar 2011 AETN Foundation brings “Celtic Thunder: Heritage” to Arkansas
CONWAY, Ark – The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) will premiere the latest program from Celtic Thunder, "Heritage,” on Friday, March 11, at 8:30 pm., followed by an exclusive acoustic performance by Keith Harkin in the AETN studios.
During the broadcast, Harkin and Emmet Cahill of Celtic Thunder will be live in the AETN studios to talk about the new show, their careers and the new Celtic Thunder tour coming this fall.
After their on-air appearance, Harkin will perform a special acoustic show in AETN’s Studio C beginning at 11 p.m. Doors will open at 10p.m. Tickets for this intimate performance are $25 each. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to the AETN Foundation. Seating is limited to175 people. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-662-2386.
Celtic Thunder features seven male vocalists: Paul Byrom ofDublin, Ireland; George Donaldson of Glasgow, Scotland; Harkin and DamianMcGinty of Derry, Northern Ireland; and Ryan Kelly of Moy in County Tyrone,Northern Ireland; Neil Byrne, who also plays guitar and percussion, of Ireland; and Cahill of Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland.
“Heritage” is an all-new Celtic Thunder show that focuses entirely on their Celtic and Irish roots. Featuring traditional standards such as “Whiskey in the Jar,” “Black is the Color,” “Skye Boat Song” and “Red, RedRose,” as well as a few beautiful love songs such as, “The Dutchman,” “Noreen” and “Just a Song at Twilight.” Celtic Thunder fan favorite “Ireland’s Call” and the new “A Voice in the Choir” are also included. The performances range from solo numbers to duets and ensembles. The show is a celebration of true Celtic music and the Celts’ heritage, performed as ever with Celtic Thunder magic.
The AETN Foundation will also present Celtic Thunder’s “Heritage” tour at Robinson Center Music Hall in Little Rock on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for a donation to the AETN Foundation of $50 to $100 and are available on a first come, first served basis. This concert is a fundraiser for the AETN Foundation, and all proceeds will support programming on AETN, Arkansas’s PBS affiliate and only statewide network.
