15 Oct 2025 Addison named MVC Freshman Swimmer of the Week
LITTLE ROCK — After a standout weekend in her collegiate debut season, freshman Amara Addison has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman Swimmer of the Week following her performance at the 2025 Little Rock Fall Invite.
Addison claimed victories in both the 50-yard backstroke and the 100-yard backstroke, setting new school records in each event. She clocked a 25.29 in the 50 back and a 55.14 in the 100 back, breaking both previous program marks. The freshman also placed herself on the Trojans’ all-time top-ten list in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.13, ranking ninth in school history.
Her efforts helped Little Rock finish second overall with 710 points and earn the top swimming-only total among all teams competing at the Donaghey Aquatic Center.
“I wouldn’t be here without the support from my parents back home, my home swim club, Norwich Swan, and the whole of the Little Rock family,” Addison said. “And this is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to grow with my team, as they all inspire me every day. I’ve come here from England, not having swum in yards before, and it’s been such a fun and new experience for me. Being able to start fresh with no times to compare myself to has been so freeing. I’ve just been able to go out there and try my hardest and see what I can do. I think this has helped me a lot and has contributed hugely to my current successes within my 50 and 100 backstroke.”
“Amara is one of our amazing eight first-years we’ve brought in this season,” said head coach Nathan Townsend. “She’s incredibly talented and incredibly humble. Her presence at practice is felt through her laughter, her smile, and the genuine joy she brings to the sport of swimming. It’s been wonderful to see her excel within our program in just a few short weeks. The future is bright for this one.”

Addison and the Trojans will return to competition October 24 and 25 when they travel to Houston to take on Rice and additional regional opponents.
