25 Nov 2009 A Viennese Christmas at UCA
The performance will feature 30 top professional orchestra musicians, four world-class vocalists and conductor. The full pops orchestra will include lush strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion and will carry the audience through a winter wonderland.
“It’s a rare opportunity for Public Appearances to do a truly family kind of a concert at a family time of year,” said Jerry Biebesheimer, director of UCA Public Appearances. “We feel that this Viennese Christmas complements all the other Christmas programs going on but doesn’t compete with them, and that was our goal.”
The music will range from Leroy Anderson’s medley “A Christmas Festival” to Victor Herbert’s march, “Babes in Toyland.” Arrangements range from the overture to Strauss’, "Die Fledermaus" to selections from many wonderful Romberg operettas such as "The Student Prince," a full suite from "Babes In Toyland," several Broadway musicals and popular carols of the season such as "Little Drummer Boy," and "Joy to the World”.
Biebesheimer said the concert would also feature an audience singalong.
