A conference for youth is planned for Saturday; an Art & Garden Camp is scheduled

MAYFLOWER — Youth Advocate Resource Network (YARN) will host a networking conference titled “Winning is Planned” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at Mayflower High School Cafeteria, 10 Leslie King Drive in Mayflower. The event is free and open to the public.

The conference is designed to engage students in an interactive, inspiring session on how to turn their goals into achievements with strategic planning, discipline and execution.

Special guests include SILLE Educational Consultants, who will lead the training session. Aja Ramsay will provide an ice breaker, and food will be catered by Uncle Tim’s Food Truck.

Members of YARN’s Board of Directors will function as the conference facilitators, timekeepers and hosts. The event is possible because of YARN supporters, volunteers and the Board of Directors.

YARN will also host an Art & Garden Camp this summer and registration is open. The camp will be held at the YARN Uncle Odus Garden Pavilion, 716 A, Hwy 365 in Mayflower. The event is free and open to the public. The Summer schedule dates are:

  • June 8 – Art with Virgina Laman and Gardening with Master Gardener Terry Wright, and Zakiyyah Rasul
  • June 22 – Arkansas TV Summer Reading Program with Karen Walker and Show N Tell with Daniele Carlock and David the Lamb
  • July 6 – Science Workshop with Sabrina and Austin Jones
  • July 20 – Field Trip Day to the Rock It Lab / Central AR Library System, hosted by Author Patrick Oliver, Create Your Vision Board
  • Aug. 3 – End of Summer Luncheon and Scholarship Awards Presentation
  • No Cost – Students receive Free Books and Art Supplies.
