CBC sweeps UHSP to stay perfect in conference play and at home

CONWAY — Looking to stay perfect in both American Midwest Conference play and at home this season, Central Baptist College softball hosted the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis in a doubleheader recently at City of Colleges Park. CBC (17-15, 6-0 AMC) fought through an hour weather delay in game one to down UHSP (7-15, 2-6 AMC) 7-1 and 11-0 in five innings.

GAME ONE – CBC 7, UHSP 1

The Eutectics opened the scoring in the first to take a 1-0 lead after a half inning. The Mustangs tied the game at one in the bottom half on a wild pitch and an error. In the third inning, Elizabeth Stoufer gave CBC the lead with a single that chased home Madalyn Tubbs making it 2-1 in favor of the Mustangs. Following the hour long weather delay, CBC pushed home three in the fifth thanks to a two-run single by Anna Marie Sternisha and a single by Abi West to extend the lead to 5-1. The final two runs came home in the sixth on back-to-back sacrifice flies by Tubbs and Stoufer.
