501DER WOMAN 2026: Sheila Redd

Sheila Hayden Redd brings both personal experience and professional dedication to her role as Director of Early Childhood Services at Milestones Services Inc. Her journey into early childhood education began with her own family. After her son underwent brain surgery at age 1, she saw firsthand the importance of early intervention and support. That experience shaped her passion for helping children overcome challenges and inspired her to serve families facing similar circumstances.

Today, Redd finds the greatest fulfillment in helping young children reach critical developmental milestones. She believes strong early support can set the foundation for long-term success and reduce the need for more restrictive classroom settings later in public school. Watching children grow, learn and gain confidence is at the heart of her work.

Redd’s commitment to education is reflected in her academic achievements. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Central Arkansas in 2020 and went on to complete a Master of Science in Early Childhood Services in 2025. Along the way, she was recognized as a President’s Scholar and inducted into Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. These milestones represent not only academic success but also her dedication to lifelong learning.

Family remains central to this 501der Woman’s life and values. Redd shares her life with her fiancé, Latour, and is the proud mother of Demetrius and Maya. She is also a devoted grandmother to Khloe, Riley and Kyelo. Growing up in a large family with eight sisters and seven brothers, she learned resilience, faith and the importance of togetherness.

Redd credits much of her strength to her mother, whom she describes as her personal Wonder Woman. After surviving a massive stroke, her mother learned to walk and talk again while raising eight children. Later, she returned to work until retirement. Guided by faith, Redd offers simple advice to younger women: Trust the journey and do not be too hard on yourself.
