(501) Make Me Over: 2 discuss difficulties women face

While changes to their appearance may be more noticeable, (501) Make Me Over winners Peggy Stone and Christina Hernandez are sporting a new attitude on the inside too. page_43_-_make_me_over_at_elan_-_march_2011.jpg

Sponsored by 501 Advertising and Publishing, the makeover prize package is valued up to $100,000 and includes a total smile makeover, weight loss and fitness program, nutrition counseling, skincare and nearly anything else needed for a complete makeover. In addition, the winners will receive a pedicure and manicure, clothing and accessories, flowers, a limo ride and dinner for two. Contest sponsors include Dalton Designer Smiles, 24/7 Fitness, US Compounding, Elan, Hurley Chiropractic, Harrington & Co., Walk This Way, Premier Designs Jewelry, Ye Olde Daisy Shoppe, Celebration Limo and Oak Street Bistro. Both women recently updated 501 LIFE on the experience:

What activities have taken place recently:

Christina: “I had my microdermabrasion and chemical peel at Elan. My face is looking younger and smoother. The atmosphere is so relaxing and you feel more beautiful when you leave, inside and out. I have also been to Advanced Facial aesthetics for some makeup tips.

“Daneen Marie and the other ladies are the best, so nice and helpful. I would recommend all of them.

“We have also had our first hair appointment at Harrington & Co. I absolutely love my new color and Robin Moore is working on a cut specifically tailored to me.”

Peggy: “I love the chemical peels. They make my face feel so much smoother and healthier. “Robin has made me feel so much better. When she asked what I wanted to do with my hair, I told her she was free to do whatever and I trusted her. She did not let me down. I love it! I even shed a few happy tears in her chair when she was done.”

As women, why do you think it is so hard to exercise and eat right:

Christina: “I think we get so busy, working full time, keeping a home and taking care of children. We tend to eat and go quickly. I have learned that eating right is not hard, you just have to plan a little more, make sure you have the fresh veggies in the fridge, make salads to take to work and pack leftovers for lunch.

“I never exercised because I didn’t want to take the time. Now I know you can go to the gym and get a good workout done in 45 minutes or less. It just takes a little time out of your day, but I feel great when I do it.”

Peggy: “I think it is hard to exercise and eat right because we simply don’t feel we have the time.

“Through this makeover, I have discovered that I AM worth taking the time for and I feel that is the most important thing I have learned. The things I have gotten to do during this have been more than I could ever have done on my own. I am really enjoying every bit of it.”
