Fans of the University of Central Arkansas Bears will “go purple or go home” on Thursday at the first football game of the 2011 season.

The Bears will face off against the Henderson State University Reddies.

Interest in this year’s UCA team is high as the Bears christen a new, colorful turf at Estes Stadium. The gray and purple stripes have generated considerable interest in the 501 and throughout the state as well as some national attention.

The Bears have adopted “fear the stripes” as their motto for 2011.

501 LIFE will be tailgating prior to Thursday night’s game. Free refreshments will be served and those attending will have an opportunity to pick up a copy of the 2011 edition of 501 Football.

Those attending the 501 LIFE tailgate at the University of Central Arkansas football game on Thursday will have an opportunity to register for a special prize – a one day fall float trip from Silver Hill Float Service for four people with two canoes.
