501 Football Extra: Hot Springs Lakeside Rams

Newly hired head coach Jared McBride is ready to help the Rams turn the tide.

“The team had a lot of injuries and bad luck last year,” McBride said. “I’m installing a new scheme for 2010. We’ll be running the Spread offense with one [running] back. The ball will be in the air. We want to put pressure on the defense. We want to be aggressive on defense, having all 11 guys running to the ball.”

Ajalen Holley (6-0, 175) will play a key role in the Spread. Holley pulled in six receiving touchdowns last fall as a sophomore.

“We play in a tough league (5A-Southwest),” McBride said. “Camden Fairview and Magnolia should be the front runners. We should be improved and fighting for a playoff berth.”

5 Players to Watch: Ajalen Holley (Jr. WR/DB), Dennis Brunson (Sr. RB/DB), Andrew Morton (Sr. OL/DL), Sam Subbiah (Sr. OL/DL) and Austin Wilson (Sr. DB).
