Experience for yourself the longest pedestrian and bicycle bridge in the 501 and in the world – the Big Dam Bridge.
The bridge opened in 2006, and is used by many visitors who can enjoy the concrete deck and eight observations areas while taking in the breathtaking view of the Arkansas River and surrounding countryside.
Built and designed for recruiting jobs and families to the area and to promote healthy lifestyle choices for its residents, the bridge links 25 miles of bike-hike trails in Little Rock and North Little Rock, as well as connecting two recreation areas – Murray Park and Cooks Landing.
The Big Dam Bridge is the longest pedestrian/bicycle bridge in the world at 4,226 feet.
In September, the bridge will be home to the Big Dam Bridge 100, a cycling tour of Central Arkansas. The event, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, offers distances including 15, 30, 50 and 100 miles. Proceeds from the event benefit the Big Dam Bridge Foundation.
