Instructors are excellent musicians with plenty of teaching experience.
Arkansas State Fiddle Champion and Arkansas Pickin’ and Fiddlin’ champion fiddler Charlotte Crosmer will at the camp. Crosmer recently completed her bachelor’s degree in violin performance at the University of Central Arkansas.
Ellen Appleton, an improvising fiddle player who plays many styles, will be teaching. "She is especially fun to listen to when she plays Irish fiddle tunes, mesmerizing, in fact," said organizer Tim Trawick.
Appleton has won numerous competitions in fiddle, violin and even dance. She is pursuing a degree in music from Berklee School of Music in Boston, Mass.
Multi-instrumentalist Chuck Hughes, a masterful banjo player and excellent guitarist (also plays mandolin), will also be at the camp. Hughes can improvise leads with skill, dexterity and speed. He also holds a Masters degree in Instrumental Conducting.
Trawick will serve as host for the event, teaching and selecting tunes for pleasurable learning. "We’ll have a strong emphasis in learning to improvise and generally help students in their areas of interest," he said.
Private lessons with teachers will also be available for an additional fee. For complete pricing details or for more information, visit www.arkansasfiddler.com.
